Best French Toast in Corvallis!!

I hadn't been to Sam's Station in years and I have been three times in the last two weeks seeking their amazing French Toast and delightful Americanos! Usually I won't order espresso or coffee drinks at breakfast establishments as their coffee is typically awful. The espresso at Sam's is rich, full-bodied and not acidic! They roast their own coffee (fair trade and organic!) and do a superb job at it. Corvallis seems to be lacking an outstanding breakfast establishment--Sam's Station is the closest thing. My two main complaints about Sam's is one their menu is incredibly limited and doesn't contain my typical breakfast out menu items that I want to order (i.e. waffles, eggs Benedict, a meat lovers breakfast, or hash-browns) and then the price which is on the high end. You can expect to pay around $15 plus/ a person for breakfast and a coffee. They do state that they use local meat and produce whenever possible and their food upstanding food quality shows it. Even with the limited menu and spendy prices I leave a happy customer won over again and again by their French Toast, Espresso Drinks and friendly service.

What makes Sam's French Toast so special is they start with their house-baked cinnamon bread, cut it into chunks, dunk it in their egg batter then pan fry it which omits the mushy center that many French Toast recipes end up having. This method creates a lovely texture and each bite is seasoned perfectly. Sam's French Toast comes sprinkled with powdered sugar and served with 1 oz of Real Maple Syrup. However that is way to much sugar for me so I order my 'special version' see below.
Tata's Special version of Sam's French Toast:
First I ask for no powdered sugar and no syrup. Then in its place i request that they smoother my French Toast with their homemade whipped cream (so far I haven't been charged extra for this substitution). I asked for fresh fruit also but they didn't have any which was disappointing that this (French Toast w/ Whipped Cream and fresh fruit) wasn't a regular menu item. Unfortunately Sam's French Toast does not come with any breakfast meat. So I order a side of Maple Sausage which will set you back $4 plus the $10.25 for the French Toast which is quite spendy for Corvallis. Add on my $3 espresso drink my breakfast comes to a total of $17.25 + tip!! Which sadly means I can only patron Sam's on occasion rather than as much as I would like to...$17.25 is a lot to spend on breakfast or dinner (in Corvallis) for that matter!
Most of their menu items are in the $11-$13 range plus add-ons. Sam's Station is only open for breakfast and lunch I have yet to try their lunches.
Sam's Station makes all their own bread and pastries which I have yet to try.
Sam's Station cafe is in an old remolded gas station which gives it character. The atmosphere is clean and welcoming. It is a fairly small establishment so expect a wait if you go during peak hours.
Overall great quality food; kind and fast service; fun atmosphere with an option for outdoor seating and the best dang French Toast in Corvallis!!
